Recovered from the corrupted memory core of a ruined orbital relay, the AVS-36 is one of Old Earth’s earliest attempts at automatic infantry fire — a bold step forward that stumbled before it could run.
First developed in the 1930s by Soviet engineer Sergei Simonov, the AVS-36 was a select-fire rifle chambered in the punishing 7.62×54mmR cartridge. It aimed to combine the power of a machine gun with the portability of a rifle — but the world wasn’t ready. Fragile internals, brutal recoil, and unreliable performance doomed it to early obscurity.
Centuries later, buried schematics resurfaced on the Rim. Now rebuilt from rust and memory, the AVS-36 fires once more — flawed, powerful, and unmistakably human.
