Info about the vessel

VL Telkkä is a Finnish Koskelo-Class patrol boat built in 1958. Koskelo class was the first class in the Finnish Coast Guard to have a steel hull. Koskelo class replaced the older wooden hull VMV-class boats. Originally it had two 500 horsepower diesel engines and no smokestack. The vessel underwent an overhaul in the 1970s. This overhaul replaced the two 500 hp Valmet diesel engines with 1350 hp MTU diesel engines. In addition the overhaul added a engine control room and a smoke stack. This vessel is modeled after the post overhaul vessel.

Good to know

This vessels main power system does not have batteries and needs at least one generator running at all times like a real ship. If "Available Power" is under the dial max value, you are not generating enough power, increase generator output. For the best experience keep infinite electricity OFF!

I think that the heater in the game consumes WAY too little power. I have fixed this issue by adding artificial consumption for the heaters. If you turn your heating on and the lights go dim, increase the generator throttle. Same has been done to the radar.

Remember to have fun! You don't always have to drive at full throttle. Have fun cruising!

Usage Guide

Startup

  • Go in the engine room (behind wheelhouse) and start at least one generator and give it some throttle.
  • After this connect the generator to the "grid" of the vessel by the bottom two circuit breakers.
  • Turn on the circuit breakers you want. Heating consumes a lot of power.
  • Now you can start both main engines.
  • The boat is now ready and you can go to the lower or upper helm and start driving. Light can be turned on with the switches

General usage

  • Search light can be controlled at both helm with arrow buttons and a on/off switch.
  • Heading Hold is used by inputting the desired heading in the keypad and putting the heading hold on. (only in the wheelhouse.)
  • You can turn in-place with the right and left side reverse
  • Visibility from the wheelhouse can be very limited. Use the flybridge for the best first person experience.
  • High speed mode can be activated with a keybutton under the helm (Engines will overheat).
  • Code for lock override is 1702.

Weapons Control

WHEN GENERATORS ARE STARTED THE GUNS MOVE BUT DO NOT FIRE.
To enable the deck guns turn the circuit breaker on under the wheelhouse helm. At least one generator needs to be connected to the grid.

Ammo is located in the bow compartment, bow bilge and next to the stern turret.
