Peek a View

No more peek-a-boo zombies. In vanilla PZ, walls and roofs only fade out within roughly 5 tiles of your character — so the player behind the screen sees less than the character actually can. A zombie leaning against a house wall or hiding behind a tall fence stays completely invisible to you, even when your character is looking straight at it. Peek a View closes that gap: houses and view-blocking fences fade from further away, so what reaches your screen matches (mostly) what your character can see. What this mod does

Extends the cutaway range from vanilla's ~5 tiles up to 20 (configurable).
Auto-disables above a configurable driving speed, to keep FPS smooth on lower-end hardware.
Optional nimble-stance-only mode.
No see-through walls, no line-of-sight bypass — same fade mechanics as vanilla, just triggered from further away.
Also fixes a B42 render bug where player-built structures cause nearby vanilla walls to disappear.
Settings All options live under Options → Mods → Peek a View. F8 toggles the mod on/off (green/red halo confirms), rebindable under [PeekAView] in Options → Keybind. Requirements

Build 42.13 or later
ZombieBuddy: Workshop page — follow the install steps on their page
Trade-offs PeekAView changes the visual experience of vanilla PZ on purpose — worth knowing what you're signing up for.

Not the look TIS intended. The extended cutaway range is a deliberate departure from the visual style the devs shipped. If you prefer the vanilla look, this mod isn't for you.
In dense city blocks, buildings can fade in and out more quickly as you move — can be distracting.
Even with optimization, there's some extra per-frame cost — most noticeable while driving (the speed gate exists for that). On foot it's usually not noticeable at all; in dense city blocks, dropping the range a few tiles can help.
Compatibility

Singleplayer and multiplayer (client-side rendering only, no server changes required)
As with any mod, back up your save before installing.
Localized in 12 languages: EN, DE, FR, ES, RU, PL, PT-BR, IT, TR, CN, KO, JP
Why ZombieBuddy? This is a Java mod. Changing the behavior of a compiled PZ method isn't achievable with a standard Lua mod, and using ZombieBuddy keeps the patch working across minor PZ updates. It's a one-time install — once ZombieBuddy is in your mod list, any ZombieBuddy-based mod can be added without further setup. Source & transparency Both PeekAView and ZombieBuddy are MIT-licensed and fully open source. If you'd rather not trust the Workshop binary, you can read every line or build the mod yourself from source. The patches only touch specific PZ rendering classes — no file I/O, no network access, nothing outside PZ's own code.
