The Nivarians are a humanoid draconic race from a distant frozen planet. Their skin is covered with smooth, icy-blue scales, with a pair of sky-blue dragon horns on their heads and elegant yet powerful tails behind them. Naturally, they also possess reptilian eyes adapted to darkness. Nivarians are born with a dependence on and resistance to cold, and a considerable portion of them can manipulate ice- and water-related psionic energies. In modern times, the Nivarians have diversified into genotypes specializing in technology, psionics, or combat.

The Nivarians originate from a dim, frozen planet far from the galactic core—Nivara. Its great distance from its star leaves the planet shrouded in perpetual darkness and ice. This environment shaped the Nivarians’ unique adaptations—and even reliance—on darkness and cold. For countless generations, they lived and thrived there, coexisting with a harsh and unforgiving nature.
However, this balance did not last. For reasons unknown, their homeworld Nivara began to thaw and fracture, with tectonic instability growing ever worse. Facing an existential threat to their species, the Nivarians almost frantically advanced their spacefaring technology. Now, having left their homeland behind, they awaken aboard a damaged generation ship and descend upon an unfamiliar planet, their fate uncertain.
Fortunately, the scientific achievements gained through years of desperate survival, along with psionic powers accumulated over generations, will help them gain a foothold once more.

Q: Where does the name “Nivarian” come from?
A: It comes from the Latin root “Niv-”, meaning snow.
Q: What does “non-coercive gameplay” mean?
A: I hate forcing players to play the game in a specific way—except where restrictions are necessary for balance or functionality (that’s important). Overall, I believe players should be free and have the power to decide the direction of their game. So when designing the mod, I try to avoid designs like “you absolutely cannot get B unless you do A,” and instead prefer “even if you don’t do A, you can still get a weaker version of B.”
Q: The content seems a bit limited.
A: Yes. First of all, I am a programmer with a [b]heavy workload[/b], and making mods in my spare time is actually quite difficult for me… Therefore, I decided to adopt a “core first, DLCs later” approach.
