Adds Parrying, Counterattacks, and Selectable Melee Modes to Vanilla Melee
This mod introduces the following features to the vanilla melee system:
- Manually switchable melee modes
- Independent parry check mechanism
- Counterattack system after parrying
Parrying Mechanism
[b]Parrying is an additional check mechanism and will not replace the original dodge system.[/b]
It only applies to melee attacks.
[b]The base values for parrying are determined by the following attributes:[/b]
- Melee Skill
- Manipulation capacity
- Sight capacity
[b]Weapon Requirement: [/b]
A pawn must be holding a weapon to parry. If the character is not holding a weapon, parrying will not be possible.
[b]Effect of Ranged Weapons:[/b]
If the pawn is holding a ranged weapon, the parrying chance will be reduced by 50%.
[b]Angle Requirement:[/b]
By default, a pawn can only parry melee attacks coming from within a 120° frontal arc.
When a parry is successful:
- Damage is reduced proportionally
- A counterattack may be triggered with a certain probability
Melee Modes
[b]▪ Default[/b]
- Keeps the original stats, no changes.
[b]▪ Aggressive[/b]
Gives up defense and attack speed for a stronger single strike.
- Melee hit chance: 115%
- Melee dodge chance: 85%
- Melee damage: 125%
- Melee cooldown: 135%
- Melee armor penetration: 110%
- Effective Parry Angle: 80 degrees
- Melee parry chance: 90%
- Parry damage reduction: 80%
- Parry counterattack chance: 150%
[b]▪ Flurry[/b]
Increases attack frequency, but lowers individual hit damage.
- Melee hit chance: 95%
- Melee dodge chance: 100%
- Melee damage: 80%
- Melee cooldown: 75%
- Melee armor penetration: 90%
- Effective Parry Angle: 100 degrees
- Melee parry chance: 80%
- Parry damage reduction: 70%
- Parry counterattack chance: 60%
[b]▪ Guard[/b]
Gives up offense for full defense, improving survivability.
- Melee hit chance: 90%
- Melee dodge chance: 150%
- Melee damage: 75%
- Melee cooldown: 105%
- Melee armor penetration: 85%
- Effective Parry Angle: 180 degrees
- Melee parry chance: 160%
- Parry damage reduction: 150%
- Parry counterattack chance: 70%

Combat Extended Compatibility
When Combat Extended is loaded:
The parrying and counterattack mechanisms of this mod will be disabled, as CE already implements an independent melee parrying and counterattack system.
Relevant parrying parameters in melee modes will be automatically adjusted as follows:
▪ Aggressive
- Melee parry chance: 90%
- Melee critical hit chance: 150%
▪ Flurry
- Melee parry chance: 80%
- Melee critical hit chance: 80%
▪ Guard
- Melee parry chance: 160%
- Melee critical hit chance: 100%
These adjustments ensure compatibility between this mod and CE's parrying system, preventing duplicate calculations for parrying and counterattacks.
All these value are also adjustable in the Mod Settings.

A: Yes.
Q: Is it compatible with other race and weapon mods?
A: Theoretically, it is compatible with most race mods (like HAR Races) and weapon mods.
Q: Is it compatible with "Melee Animation"?
A: Based on my tests, yes.
Q: Does this mod work with Mechanoid?
A: Yes, including those added by other mods.
Q: Are parrying and counterattacking applicable to NPCs?
A: By default, they apply to all characters, including enemies. You can disable this option in the mod settings.
Q: Are melee modes available for NPCs?
A: Currently, NPCs will only use the default mode. I will consider adding AI functionality to automatically switch melee modes in future updates.
Q: Can this mod be added mid-save?
A: Yes.
Q: Can this mod be removed mid-save?
A: Theoretically yes.
