FN7-B Cygnus Strike Interceptor (WhackAL Carrier Challange)

More manoeuvrable than our competition, Constella Industrial research concern offers a lightweight alternative for attack interception. A largely analogue option, at a fraction of the cost of our competitors (only $54,000 compared to other jets pushing $90,000). The Constella Cygnus also is significantly smaller than other planes, able to take off and land at short runways, making it a STOL aircraft (short take off and landing). Cygnus also offers long ranges independent of carriers, making it a highly versatile weapons system with 7 unique hard points for bombs, drop tanks and missiles. All components are home designed so you can expect excellent constella quality. This vehicle is my submission to the WhackAL flying aircraft carrier challenge. Here is a link to the template (will update on release) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3494725481&searchtext=whack ---------------------------------------- Designed by Constella Industrial Research Concern as an Interceptor/Attacker with a primary focus for speed and the ability to severely damage opposing flying aircraft carriers. Cygnus is a relatively light and manoeuvrable, able to take off in very short runways (landing is a little more difficult). The FN7B modification includes better engines, afterburners and improved targeting and control systems. Cygnus features a fully decorated exterior with roundels and identification Roles: Multirole fighter, Ground attack, Strike aircraft, Light bomber, Interceptor, Reconnaissance. ---------------------------------------- Specification Top Speed: 185 ms^-1 at sea level (360 knots, 414 mph), 400 ms^-1 at 20,000 M (777 knots, 895 mph) Max altitude: 37,000 metres above sea level Fuel: 2700 litres of jet fuel - enough for up to an hour if properly conserved Mass: 3000 units Cost: $54125 ---------------------------------------- Weapons 1x Light autocannon (300 rounds) 1x heavy autocannon (60 rounds) 18x flares/chaff ---------------------------------------- Features Docking system - hook, camera and magnets. Cameras for Bombsight and Gunsight Radar lock Extra Ammo Survival equipment and sabotage equipment if you manage to land on the enemy carrier Fully Pressurised cockpit 2x seats Full decoration Map Radio Missile Radar ---------------------------------------- Hardpoints 7x hardpoints: 5 fuselage mounted, 2 wing mounted By default 4 Missiles are mounted. Guns are still the primary weapon A radar tracker is fitted to use if missiles are fitted. Feel free to mount any weapons you want. Wing hardpoints are connected to fuel pumps so you can use drop tanks. However this will not necessarily fit on the carrier if applied. ---------------------------------------- Tips - Gunsight is on the right camera, three is no crosshair in flight to preserve view in reconnaissance missions - Bombsight is on the left camera - There are viewports for both - Keep throttle at about 0.4 to 0.6 to have maximum efficiency, in combat you can go up to 1.0 if needed, although gains between 0.8 and 1.0 are marginal. - Bomb close to the ground as the bombsight is calibrated to bombing large flying objects, such as flying carriers - There are magnets to aid with docking, try turnining them on to help get an inital catch and then turn them off/on afterwards until the hardpoint also connects. ---------------------------------------- Tactics Cygnus is designed with intercepting and damaging enemy aircraft carriers, hence a preference for high speed and armour piercing weapons are favoured. The bomb camera is fixed so try to get at a similar speed to enemy carriers approximately 20M above and drop bombs. Alternatively, enable the heavy auto cannon to use in strafing runs. It is not enabled by default due to ammo limitations. ---------------------------------------- Docking System Use the arm and camera for manoeuvrability, magnets to help dock and fold the arm from the plane. ---------------------------------------- Credits All parts of this plane are made by me. Please credit me if you use it in the future :)
