Cosmetic genes shown in preview image are from the fantastic Outland - Genetics
Glimmers are the descendents of glitterworld utopists who redesigned themselves to better fit their moral (and aesthetic) ideals.
These pleasant, colorful people are intelligent, cheerful, long-lived and empathic. They are also clumsy, innately distressed by violence, and unable to eat animal protein without getting ill. Life on the Rim can be extremely difficult for them as a result. However, the facility with which they forge strong, peaceful communities still allows them to scratch out a niche.

Faction
Founded by pacifistic, empathic glimmers, this society prizes values of peace, compassion, and cooperation. Their inclusive values welcome a wide variety of xenotypes, but those predisposed to violence rarely find themselves a good fit. They make use of what technology they can get their hands on, which for the most part comprises a mix of industrial and spacer tech.
Though they are reluctant to engage anyone in combat, they will fight to defend their way of life if they must.
The peaceful glimmer coalition is a new faction approximately equivalent to civil outlanders. The faction is not enabled by default but can be selected at world generation.
The coalition begins neutral. If sufficiently provoked to turn hostile, they still won't launch raids against you, but they will defend their own settlements and caravans.
A wide variety of xenotypes, including a substantial fraction of baseliners, belong to this faction as well as the glimmers themselves.
Their bulk goods traders and exotic goods traders tend to stock more medicine than outlanders and a slightly higher quantity of higher tech resources (advanced components, synthread, etc). They don't trade in farm animals, and you'll find no meat or leather in stock, but they do trade in pets.
They can also send a specialist medical supplier, who sells drugs and implants in addition to medicine in bulk.
Other Features
Compatibility
1.6 only. In 1.5, this xenotype is included in the base mod Cyanobot's Genes.
Some genes are added or removed from the genotype on the basis of other mods loaded, see above. The glimmer faction can include xenotypes from several other mods.
Generation
The frequency with which glimmers show up as factionless pawns (beggars, transport pod crashes, etc) can be controlled using a slider in the mod settings.
Additionally, a toggle allows glimmers to be added (5% spawn rate) to Civil Outlanders, Gentle Tribes, the Empire, and the Traders Guild. For finer control, use something like Xenotype Spawn Control.
Planned features
Infographics. For now, check parent mod Cyanbot's Genes for documentation of the new genes.[docs.google.com]
Custom faction/settlement icons.
