Recovered from the corrupted memory of a fallen pre-Fall archive, the [b]AVT-40[/b] is one of Old Earth’s most unstable experiments with automatic fire — a desperate attempt to turn a rifle into a machine gun during humanity’s bloodiest wars.
First built in the early 1940s as an automatic variant of the SVT-40, the AVT-40 was chambered in the brutal 7.62×54mmR cartridge. Intended to give a single soldier the suppressive power of a light machine gun, it quickly revealed its flaws: crushing recoil, fragile internals, and catastrophic wear under full-auto fire. Commanders soon forbade its automatic mode entirely.
Centuries later, after Earth was lost to silence, a damaged schematic was unearthed on the Rim. Restored piece by piece, the AVT-40 roars once again — flawed, unstable, yet devastating in the right hands.
