Foreword
Skip if you don't care.
This is the second ship made from scratch in my own little series, the 7th Fleet Shipyards. Made to be A LOT smaller (to the point of feeling cramped a lot of the time) than the Felinis this attack frigate has a lot of nice quirks to it and some not so nice ones. Making these does take a lot of work but even if it is just feeling proud of myself or showing it off to friends these projects have been grabbing my attention and interest again lately as a method of expressing my creativity. I’m thinking of making a really nice small respawn shuttle soon here so if you are one of the maybe two people that care about my work you have that to look forward to.
And on a more personal note, things have been getting deranged here in the U.S but I want you to know that if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, simply let people live how they want, or even just don’t care so long as someone isn’t bugging you; Thank you. Even silence seems like support in this current situation and I hope you know we will get through this, after all you can try to remove a people but to remove an idea is nearly impossible; I love all of you that are accepting views different than your own, keep on kickin’
Fixed Issues
- Improperly wired ‘Set State’ connections on the junction box
- Water detectors at the hatches, more wiring things, a finally functioning double hull set up and finally but not least, searchlights that are set to the same input as the periscopes increasing the area which is illuminated while fighting
If you find any more please leave a comment letting me know!
Features
This ship doesn't have all that much to it honestly, no fancy auto reactor, no fancy proximity alarm or drone, but the doors are pretty good.
- Five multi-hull ballast tanks
- A fancy reactor loaded with two control rods from stock to help stabilize the heat of multi-rod set ups
- Fire prone junction boxes, I MEAN IT
- Overlapping fields of fire that cover most of the ship excluding the very front nose that is covered with discharge coils and the very back where things will eat into the reactor room.
- Top and Bottom airlocks and docking ports
- Cyan/light blue emergency lights because I got tired of red
- Fairly Robust batteries that can keep the sub running for a several hundred meter jaunt and can have their output/input toggled to make use of them when you need them
- Automated water draining systems to prevent water from being trapped in higher rooms and slowing down the ballast speed
Why All The Mods?
These are the mods that were used while making the submarine and are pretty essential outside of Neurotrauma if you don't mind a missing surgery table. This was also made for the mod list my friends and I are running so having things tailored to that was a big priority.
- Hazardous Reactors: This is a core mod because without it the REACTOR and deconstructor would be missing as well as the crate rack that has additional storage for used up fuel rods
- Enhanced Armaments: This mod is a primary mod used for the armory, weapon storage and fabrication, as well as the main fabricator cabinet
- Enhanced Armaments - Fuel for the Fire: An expansion to EA that adds in some more gear and a few items used here and there.
General description
The 7th Fleet Zelik (z-eel-ick or zeal-ick are both commonly used) is a border patrol frigate designed to shred the lightly armored creatures that can be commonly found harassing most small outposts or cargo vessels, however it’s low caliber machine guns struggle to get through the thicker hides of hammerheads, in these situations the coil-cannon mounted on the bottom left hardpoint can be used to deal with heavier armor and clusters of creatures, while the specially modified 7th fleet coil-gun mounted on the top right hardpoint can lay down accurate 3-round bursts of ammo on any larger targets approaching from above.
As part of the patrol package and admittedly degraded knowledge of the stellar engines which first brought the 7th fleet into orbit around Europa, the Zelik boasts a very powerful engine given her fairly small size and is able to reach speeds of ~36km/h forwards and backwards at stock configuration. Her penta-lift ballast system equipped with large scale pumps despite the smaller ballast size lead to incredibly swift and agile responses to command inputs. A skilled and lucky captain can find the trips between stations even a kilometer or more away passing in a breeze as the ship is able to outrun all but the meanest and swiftest creatures the water moon can offer.
Lore
When it became clear that Earth and Europa had grown to be separate entities and supply shipments were halted the 7th Fleet faced a tough choice. They could try and make the trip back to Earth but they were already low on supplies, and given their reputation with Europa, wouldn't be resupplied, or they could bite the bullet and crack through the crust of Europa. What I'm told was one, very interesting, landing later and the 7th Fleet had entered the faction politics of Europa to stay.
The 7th Fleet has been isolationist for quite some time, however the factions have started to notice their re-mobilization with various, heavily armed, vessels starting to tenuously open up trade and pave the way for the rest of the fleet. With any luck the 7th Fleet's engines will once more alight and they will return to their home in the void, until then however, they have a lot of work to do.
