Circa 2115, the Ykil 4 started to show it’s age. Stress fractures in the wings, and countless system updates to an old air frame caused parts to be increasingly expensive to produce, and technology had out-paced the ability to retrofit the aircraft every few years. Work began on the new aircraft in 2117, with the first model taking flight sometime in the early spring of 2121. Between the Yerchovik company and Sukhoi, the Sukhoi model showed superior performance in most areas, save for cost.
The Sukhoi was equipped with a massive laser system mounted under the fuselage. This laser system was one of the most powerful lasers ever outfitted on an aircraft with a power output of 50,000 watts. The weapon was able to melt through an alloy at up to 4.5 km away and could fire for up to 5 seconds without overheating. Large cooling radiators were fitted to the bottom of the pod to aid in cooling, this allowed the weapon to fire every few seconds at max burst duration.
Like the Ykil line, the T-71 had a limited range, and was usually equipped with drop tanks to extend it’s range to something serviceable. The massive engines of the Sukhoi gave it incredible performance, and combined with the unusual stabiliser layout, allowed the aircraft to shift so far from it’s vector on the horizontal axis in certain situations that it could turn 180 around almost instantaneously, giving it an extreme edge in close quarter dog fighting. To go further on the differences between the T-71 and the Reynard, the Fracture’s tail plane folded backwards, rather than forwards, allowing belly landings in the event of a mechanical failure
The cockpit was fairly advanced compared to it’s contemporary fighters as well. Building on technology pioneered by Dassault, the pilot laid prone in a fully enclosed canopy, seeing the world through an array of advanced, all aspect cameras. The front camera would be covered mechanically with a heavy duty tint lens to prevent damage during laser pulses. Unlike the Dassault Reynard however, the aircraft did not feature any brain interface, and retained traditional joystick controls
Ultimately, this born and bred killer would only see a limited production run of 60 air frames from 2125 to 2129, as the program was disgustingly over budget for development cost alone. The Ykil 5 ended up being the standard air superiority fighter for the Russian airforce.

Serial Production date : 2125 - 2129
HOW TO FLY
hop in the cockpit, press the compressor button and wait for the engines to spool up. the starting sequence is that simple.
Once the engines spin up, and the power kicks in, the plane takes off extremely quickly. make sure you are ready to take control as soon as it starts moving, as you will need to pitch up immediately.
After the plane is off the ground, enter level, stable flight, and press 4. This will retract the landing gear and extend the drop rudder. At this stage, you are free to fly the plane and enjoy it's manoeuvrability, and it's many features.
Hot keys / feature instructions
1: Weapon bay
2: Fire laser
3: Machine gun
4: Landing gear
6:Flares
Laser:
Ensure that you are in level flight before deploying the weapon system as erratic movements can cause the weapon to deploy incorrectly and can damage the doors. If the weapon becomes stuck partially inside the bay, simply roll and yaw sharply until it's unstuck.
TO FIRE: wait until the weapon is fully extended, pick a target, and press 2. This will begin the firing sequence, and charge up the laser capacitors. Once the laser has fired, the cooling vents will extend. DO NOT RETRACT THE WEAPON UNTIL THE COOLING SEQUENCE HAS FINISHED. if the side doors do not retract properly, fly erratically for a brief time and they should return to their closed position properly
Author notes:
This is my magnum opus of flight, it's about the most manoeuvrable jet i've ever made, and the most advanced as well. Make sure to experiment with stall manoeuvres, it's tons of fun to get it vertical. enjoy <3
