The Erie

I set out on a journey to design a sub that could get from start to finish of barotraumatic + Dynamic Europa. In the end I got pretty close! I was able to get as far as the final biome but not beyond in solo play without struggle. This submarine is small and compact. And completely filled with features and technology that you're not likely to find in this quantity and formfactor in any other submarine.

Ideal for 2-3 people. Vanilla!

In my homebrew lore I like to think this one of a kind submarine was made by a determined independent individual who wanted to venture into the Eye of Europa for themselves. The atmosphere of this sub is dark, and cramped, but undeniably well made. Every inch of the sub carefully thought out and nothing is without purpose to ensure the smoothest ride for the smallest size this submarine could be.

FEATURES:

DETACHABLE HELM

The helm is detachable, doubling as an escape pod or simply a smaller scouting pod which comes in handy when needing to venture into (or escape from) the Abyss. The hallway leading to the helm automatically converts into an airlock and it even has its own battery and micro reactor to use as power for whatever tasks you may have in mind.

When detached, the body of the sub has programming that overides the pumps to ensure its velocity will decelerate to 0 without ANY human input

PEERLESS SECURITY

The Erie comes with 2 pulse lasers and one railgun and one depth charge tube. The railgun is angled down and to the back so positioning can be interesting but you can hit almost anything you're running away from or getting the drop on. To save space, the railgun and bottom pulse laser share the same controller and you can switch between the two at will with a switch.

The Erie also comes with an internal coil purge switch in the helm which will fire off internally placed electrical coils to purge any intruders you have in your ship. Just be sure to spare your crew if you can! Safe spaces from getting fried include the ballast, and the railgun loading compartment. Comes in handy during mudraptor swarms.

AMAZING DOOR SYSTEM!!

Perhaps one of the most advanced door controls systems every designed! Motion detecting doors will open when approaching, but will automatically close when detecting water. There is an overriding button to open the door regardless which will keep the door open for just enough time to get in and fix the leak before reengaging door flood control measures. Lockdown switches exist on either side of the door to force the door closed regardless of what other buttons you press. If you can not reach the switch to disengage the lockdown you will have to break the door down. Helpful flashing lights to indicate flooding or lockdown!

CONTROLS FOR EVERY OCCASION

The ship comes equipped with a variety of controls that help you in any situation including;

Fixfoam Detonators- Pressure detecting fixfoam detonators which will trigger in an emergency in every room! Controls allow them to be turned on or off, with a manual trigger to them wired in the helms controls. Will trigger all flood detecting detonatiors regardless of on/off status.

Stealth Mode- Power down all systems and run on battery, runs the engine on 10%, switch to slower and more quiet pumps.

External Camera Systems- 2 sets of external camera so both the captain and the crew can see whats going on outside

Motion Activate Alarms- Never let any monster get the drop on you, alarms blare when hostiles approach. Can be toggled on or off

Exterior Autocoils- Why should your crew be the only one getting fried? Motion activated exterior coils for any hostile fauna. Can be toggled on or off.

Fabrication and Deconstruction- Fuel your campaign from with your ship, proccess ores and produce anything you desire

Station Charge- Mooch power from any station that offers! Spare your fuel rods

Ballast Flora mode- Drains the ballast to let you burn away pesky flora

Autodock- Dock in a hurry! No need to hover your mouse over the button (will still get the popup message though)

Plenty of Storage-This submarine is jam pack full of storage, with many of containers being helpfully labelled so you know exactly where everything is at a glance. Careful thought has been put into the placement of every container. Emergency medical supplies in the airlock, A diving suit in every room, dedicated explosives container in the railgun compartment, dedicated reactor fuel storage. Even the walls of the ballast are lined with shelves for cargo hauling missions. You won't find an inch of this submarine that doesn't have a purpose.

notes:

I noticed sometimes the ai gets stuck trying to repair a hull it thinks it cant reach, let me know if you know of a fix!

Rear airlock is very vulnerable be careful to prevent it from rupturing!

As far as i'm concerned, all systems power draw is balanced. Some things like O2 generators had powerdraw significantly reduced, but the rate at which they produce O2 is also significantly reduced. Similar adjustments have been made to other systems on the ship as well.

This is not a roleplay ship, I designed the ship with the intention of beating the game with as few people as possible. The powerful controls and small form of the ship make playing traitor less than ideal.

Due to the detachable hull design, docking the ship can be tricky sometimes in that you may have to select the button near the hatch to engage docking. (not via button in the nav console)
