SARR AC44CW in Meier Railroad Colors 4400 (4.1 UPDATE)

SERVICE HISTORY
In late 1994, MRR 4400 - the first of a 200-unit order of GE AC4400CW locomotives - was delivered in MRR's newest livery at the time, known as AR1. This scheme featured a cornflower blue body with a white arrow and accents overtop a gray frame.

In 2011, the unit was repainted into the AR2 livery, an almost identical design to AR1 with the colors inverted. 4400 was outshopped alongside 4444, which wore the special "Quad-Fours" scheme. Unit 4444 was unfortunately retired following a derailment in 2015.

By 2019, 4400 received MRR's ST1 livery, a radically redesigned scheme featuring an all-new logo. The ST1 design draws inspiration from the final livery of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway, and Union Pacific's "Shield and Wings" logo.

In 2021, the locomotive underwent a major rebuild and modernization program incorporating new energy and fuel-saving technologies. The most notable visual changes included the addition of radiator-top shutters and extra rooftop equipment above the cab.

After accumulating over 1.5 million miles in service - and with many more ahead - MRR 4400 and her sister units continue to serve as a backbone of MRR operations alongside the more powerful AC6000 series.
