This mod tweaks the behavior of one of Barotrauma’s most terrifying creatures: the Endworm. Normally, the Endworm is drawn to loud or unusual signals—sometimes including devices like the Smoke Detector, which can unintentionally turn a minor onboard issue into a full-scale nightmare. This mod removes that interaction, ensuring the Endworm no longer responds to Smoke Detector signals.
The goal is to make gameplay feel more fair and intentional. Accidental triggers—like a Smoke Detector running low on batteries—won’t suddenly summon an unstoppable deep-sea predator. Instead, encounters with the Endworm become more tied to player decisions, navigation, and genuine threats, rather than incidental noise from utility systems.
This change preserves the tension and danger that define Barotrauma, while reducing frustrating or immersion-breaking moments. Crews can focus on managing real crises without worrying that a routine safety device will bring the Endworm crashing through the hull.
