Realistic Vanilla Meals

Version 1.1

A problem with the vanilla game to me is being able to cook a lavish meal with just two ingredients. That doesn't seem very lavish to me. This means you only need to grow berries and hunt rabbits to have the best meals on the RIM? I think we can do better, so here is my interpretation of better.

Using vanilla ingredients this MOD does the following:

Adds a drying rack and the drying of meats and berries at any tech level. This is simply putting things on a drying rack and letting the air dry them. Earth has been doing it for eons. I think the RIM can too. Dried meats (25 days) and berries (50 days) last less time than vanilla pemmican (70 days), but are great preserved foods nonetheless.

Adds a recipe for Leaf Gummies - half the potency as a smokeleaf joint.

Does not change simple meal.
Adds a new meal "Better Meal" with two ingredients like vanilla fine meal. Cooking skill 3 to create. Added mood buff +3, "I am nice and full".
Changes Fine to use three ingredients: 1-meat,animal products and 2-fruits/desserts and 3-vegetables
Changes Lavish Meal to use four ingredients: 1-meat and 2-fruits/desserts, 3-vegetables, and 4 Animal Products
Adds a new meal "Four Course Meal" with five ingredients: 1-meat and 2-fruits/desserts, 3-vegetables, 4-Eggs,Milk and 5-Exotics. Cooking skill 10 to create. Nutrition like vanilla lavish meal but added mood buff +15, ate 4 course meal.
Added Culinary High for about 6 hours when having eaten the 4 course meal.

  • Affects Rest by -0.1 (-10%) as your fat and full. :)
  • Affects Blood Filtration, Consciousness, and Moving by 15%, and Consciousness affects Manipulation Talking and Eating respectively.

Vanilla Meal recipes use categories when looking for ingredients. This MOD removes those categories and specifies the ingredients specifically in order to create more complex meals. All but raw meat is split up.

Vanilla Food items were put into the following categories:

Animal Products

  • Milk
  • Eggs Unfertilized

Fruits/Desserts

  • Berries
  • Agave

Vegetables

  • Rice
  • Corn
  • Potatoes

Exotics

  • Insect Jelly
  • Fungus

Adds bulk recipes for all meals at stoves and bulk simple and better at campfire.
I love to camp, and I tell you I can create a meal for the 6 of us with 5 different ingredients at a campfire with no problem. So I added fine meals at campfires just no bulk.

Adds new artwork for meals to reflect the amount of ingredients used.

Adds the fruits and vegetables to the respective categories from the following MODs, though you DO NO need them:
VGP adds the following to fruits/desserts:

  • Apple
  • Banana
  • Orange
  • Peach
  • Pineapple
  • Blueberry
  • Watermelon
  • Date
  • Fig
  • Gooseberry
  • Cloudberry
  • Cherry
  • Coconut
  • Cactus Fruit

Adds these to the veg category:

  • Snow Beet
  • Bean
  • Olive

Adds this to the Exotic category

  • Honey

VFE Medieval bring in grapes, so added that to fruits category.
VFE Vikings brings in Honey, so added that to exotics category.

VPE adds the following to fruits/desserts category:

  • Apple
  • Peach
  • Cherry
  • Plum
  • Prunes

COMPATIBILITY: This MOD overwrites core files for vanilla meals and may very well not be compatible with other mods that overwrite vanilla meals. Just put it after anything you think may also write to vanilla meals.
This MOD checks for VFE-Medieval, VFE-Vikings, VGP Vegetable Garden, and Vanilla Plants Expanded to be sure to load this MOD afterwards. If you don't have those MODs it skips the patches.

Version 1.0 - release
Version 1.1 - Changed the categories for food and added support for VPG vegetable Garden and and Vanilla Plants Expanded, and the Grapes from VFE- Medieval
