Taking heavy inspiration from the Barsuk, the Fish Hawk-class was originally designed to function with a skeleton crew of two sailors. Boasting an advanced electrical grid as well as improved weaponry, including two fully automatic electrical discharge coils, this small and nimble submarine never entered mass production due to its high production cost. The prototype vessel, the "Pallegina", is the only one which was completed before the factory got shut down.

The story of the "Pallegina" (yes, the name is very much taken from Pillars of Eternity) began during the first week after I got the game, when I sat down to make a compact quality sub to play with my friend group. Over time she experienced multiple overhauls until I finally felt that she's ready to be published here. She's classified as Tier 2 (intended to make her avaiable earlier in the campaign) with a price tag that's a little higher, positioning her inbetween the medium and high tier subs.
I tried to balance the current version around the sub's electrical systems:
I. Her power output without upgrades is just enough for full speed while working the ballast pumps. However, she does have an easy to use battery system which can be enabled for prolongued engagements or silent running. Additionally, her exterior lighting can be turned off to assist with silent running.
II. Her supercapacitators recharge at a lower rate than vanilla subs. This makes it curcial to turn them up to 100% recharge speed during prolongued engagements - a mechanic that should ideally foster more coordinated gameplay between the gunners and the engineer.
III. Finally, the captain and security officers can toggle her motion activated discharge coils on and off. Since one of them is positioned right at the airlock, it can fry departing or returning expedition teams if you're not mindful. I thought this might come in handy and could also lead to some funny situations.
The sub is also equipped with a bunch of QoL features, like an automated draining system, motion activated doors, a bridge which can be sealed shut by the captain or security officers, a colour coded battery charge display, crew quarters which can be turned into a brig, an inbuilt reactor control system (the lever is on the generator itself), an alarm system for low reactor fuel etc.
Since this is my first sub, I'm very open to feedback, especially on the way I tried to balance her around the electrical grid.
