The Pioneer - is the very first submarine to venture into the then-completely unexplored Europa subsurface ocean.
The Pioneer was designed as a research submarine, its sole purpose being a short reconnaissance mission of the surrounding area and return to the station.
However, due to the dire rumors about Europa's deadly fauna, it was equipped with additional chain gun and a railgun.
The Pioneer was designed before interventing technological advances, so it lacked a nuclear reactor and a control terminal. Therefore, it is powered by batteries and has analog controls using levers and periscopes.
Currently, the Pioneer is a long-forgotten submarine. It was almost immediately replaced by newer "Barsuk"-class and the Prototype "DGN" submarines, which later became the Dugong.
So if you're the captain of the Pioneer and you're sailing it not for a show, you're likely already known to many people, either as a captain hardened by thousands of completed missions or as the most crazy badass who ever sail these waters.
Spoiler: This submarine is very difficult to play on. You will "kiss" every wall and rock on your way. Anyone who want will "kiss" you and your crew without any troubles. You will eventualy run out of energy. Your only way of survival is stations and beacons.
