SS EIRINI T2 SE A1 Tanker

USS J H Charlie was lunched in 1943 for the war effort, supplying oil and petroleum products from the US to Great Britain. After the war she was laid up in Virginia and in late 1945 she was bought by Bulk Carriers Inc. and re-named SS Star. She was put to work transporting crude oil from the Gulf of Mexico to ports in the US East Coast. In early 1948 she was sold to a Greek shipping tycoon named Kostas Efthimiadis and re-named again as SS Eirini. In late 1948 she was put into service carrying oil form the Caribbean and Middle East to the port of Eleusis in Greece. She was a common sight in the bay of Eleusis until she was laid up there in late 1975. She remained in lay up until 1981 when she was sold for scrap in Turkey.
