Replaces the Galician tribal names in vanilla with authentic names from the Nahuatl language of Mesoamerica (best known for being the language of the Aztecs). The random syllable generator has been removed.
Settlement names have also been replaced with authentic place names.
Faction leader titles and some icons have been changed to be more suitable. (Icons are placeholder)
The vanilla system of animal/colour names/random words is still in effect, but it's much more common to get one of the unique ones.
Names sourced from Mexicolore, Behind The Name, Nawatl Scholar.
These are generally classical Nahuatl but there are likely to be some Spanish loanwords that slipped through my curation, or other things that are more modern, like the existence of surnames.
Names added:
First names (female) - 82
First names (male) - 176
Last names - 188
Place names - 173 (including some mythological ones)
Other words (used for names of features, factions, less common 'random words' names) - 473
Mod Compatibility
As both of our mods change the tribal name generation system, this mod is not compatible with Rainbeau's Tribal Names. However, you are free to paste the names from my mod into files from Rainbeau's if you would like to add them to that mod's collection. Rainbeau's doesn't use any Mesoamerican names by default.
If you're using More Descriptive Words, just load this mod afterwards so the new names are used.
Q: Will you be doing this for any other languages?
A: Not really at this time. If you have a request, I can at least look into it, but can promise nothing. Unfortunately, people in Rimworld only have one name, so it's just not possible to accurately represent a bunch of naming systems in the game. Check out the famous article 'Falsehoods Programmers Believe About Names'.
Q: How about Nahuatl names for imperials too?
A: Yes, here it is!
Q: Can you use these names for non-tribal (spacer/crashlanded) colonists?
A: Unfortunately, the colonist naming system is a bit strange in vanilla because of backer names, so I wouldn't really know where to begin with that. I would recommend using NamesGalore and pasting the names into one of its folders.
