GO Transit Articulated Light Rail Transit Vehicl
Ontario’s Big What If
The Go Transit Articulated Light Rail Transit (ALRT) proposal is one of the most ambitious transportation proposals ever put forward by an Ontario government. Starting in the early 1980s, It included radical new transit developments from Hamilton all the way to Oshawa and everything in between. The proposal consisted of two main lines, one being a southern line along the lakeshore and the second being a northern line along the Finch hydro corridor through Mississauga, North York and Scarborough. The system was initially designed to use modified ICTS cars made by UTDC similar to the Scarborough RT however later plans called for larger subway sized vehicles. Ultimately the proposal would be cancelled by the Frank Millar government in 1985.
This model is based on the early proposals for the ALRT vehicle since more info and images exist for this version. This iteration called for a vehicle based on the ICTS cars but extended to 39m with three articulated sections. The linear induction propulsion system would be dropped in favor of regular DC motors and 25KV overhead wires. The vehicle also included Go train style seating for commuter rail. The system would also be fully automated and run at much shorter intervals than the current GO train. Unfortunately I currently do not have the knowledge or skill to make this system automated but may consider automating it in the future. Because the real ALRT system was never finished, this vehicle is only a concept and thus some liberties have been taken with the design for the purpose of making the vehicle work better in Stormworks. Namely there is a single driver cab at the front of each vehicle as well as two additional sets of single doors at the front and rear of each vehicle. A few other features have been borrowed from the ICTS cars.

Enter the cab front of the vehicle at either side. The cab is illuminated when spawned for easier location. Activate the Master key and enter a frequency from 1-99 and you'll be good to go!

To connect additional units, reverse in the vehicle editor and spawn with the cab facing the rear. Activate connectors on both units and connect them like so.
