In short: milk boomrats for chemfuel, like boomalopes. They produce 3 chemfuel every 2 days.
Goals: First, consistency, ofc. Secondly, this gives boomrats a use besides suicide bombs more dangerous to your pawns than to your enemies. All the while, reasonable balance is paramount. Boomrats should not yield as much as their bigger bladder brothers.
Compatibility: Very! Safe to add/remove mid-playthrough.

Isn't 3chem/2days rather small? Yes, it is. First off, check out my other mod - BoomChem Takes Time! I recalibrate boomalopes to yield more chemfuel, but more slowly. It also recalibrates boomrats in parallel - if you have a mod that causes boomrats to yield "milk," like this one. Load BCTT after TTGRT.

More detail required? Lucky you! - I summarized the relevant information and process as a spreadsheet! How exciting!

...Yeah, no one will read that spreadsheet. Okay, you win. Here's a briefer summary.
I wanted boomrats to yield chemfuel, like boomalopes. Boomalopes, base size 1.5, yield 12 chemfuel every 2 days, and consume 2.08 units of nutrition per day. Boomrats have a base size of 0.2, and consume 0.56 units of nutrition per day. So, being smaller animals, they should yield fewer units of chemfuel each milking. At the same time, since the biological processes are assumed to be the same, boomrats should produce the same amount of chemfuel per unit of nutrition as the boomalope. I derived my final values - 3chem/2days - from that starting point, choosing round numbers to keep things simple.
I really don't think of this as a buff. Honestly, having animal handlers constantly running around just for the sake of these piddling yields of 3 chemfuel is probably more trouble than it's worth. Hey, it fits really well with the boomrat's intended role - a pest :)))
Enjoy watching your pawns tug those gas rat teats for sweet, sweet renewable petrochemicals!
