DESCRIPTION
Tribute Capricciosa NPP was designed with a single goal: Maximum output for minimum investment. Following several rounds of aggressive budget cuts during construction, anything the Tribute Board of Directors deemed unneccesary was cut without hesitation.

[*] The reactor pressure vessel was filled with 40,000 litres of fresh water, less than a third of the originally specified 132,578L.
[*] All safety railings and ladder guards were removed and reused elsewhere in the facility to save on materials.
[*] Steam condensers were cut from the final design entirely, leaving the plant dependent on consistent fresh water deliveries to keep the boilers running.

Because of the significantly reduced coolant volume, the 950°C standard operating temperature is extremely sensitive, and any minor reduction in coolant levels can and will result in a thermal runaway. Most operators treat the maximum operating temperature of 1000°C as the point of no return, not the limit.
Due to its sensitivity to coolant levels and tendency toward sudden, unpredictable swings in reactor temperature, the plant was unofficially nicknamed Capricciosa, Italian for capricious, meaning unpredictable and subject to sudden changes. The nickname stuck.
