Advanced Frequency Console
Advanced Frequency Console
A lightweight Biotech building mod for mechanitor colonies.
Vanilla band nodes only provide 1 bandwidth each. They are functional, but once your colony reaches the mid or late game, keeping a larger mechanoid force often means covering a lot of floor space with small bandwidth buildings.
This mod adds a more compact, power-hungry, late-game alternative: the Advanced Frequency Console.
Features:
- Tune the console to a specific mechanitor
- Switch between three bandwidth output levels: +5, +10, +20
- Power cost scales with output: 300W, 600W, 1200W
- Turn bandwidth output off to reduce power use to 0W
- Retune the console to another mechanitor
- Optional solar flare shielding
Solar flare shielding:
When enabled, the console can maintain its tuned mechanitor's bandwidth during a solar flare, preventing a short electromagnetic disruption from instantly dropping your mechanoid control.
It is not free power and not perfect protection:
- Normal power loss still disables it
- Turning the building off disables it
- Breakdown disables it
- EMP stun disables it
Balance:
The Advanced Frequency Console is not meant to be a cheap replacement for vanilla band nodes. It requires high mechtech, costs more to build, and consumes a lot of power at higher output levels. Its role is to trade power and resources for space efficiency and smoother late-game mechanitor management.
Performance:
The bandwidth logic is mostly event-driven. Consoles notify the tuned mechanitor when their state changes, with only light fallback refreshes after loading or state changes. It does not constantly scan the whole map every tick.
Requirements:
- RimWorld 1.6
- Biotech
Compatibility:
This mod adds a new building and a new bandwidth effect. It does not replace vanilla band nodes, so it should work alongside most mechanoid, building, and performance mods.
If you like mechanitor gameplay but feel vanilla band nodes take too much space, this mod is meant to solve that with a clear power and resource cost.
