As the safe to use modified version of the EW-16A the EW-16B sacrificed its internal weapons bay and with it some speed for reliability and a massively increased armament carrying with it triple the quantity of missiles taken by the EW-16A including the higher yield R11 and R100 anti ship missiles.
modification of the EW-16A also resulted in the introduction of experimental radar displays, however whilst integrated in all air frames the system was found to be unreliable and pilots found it offered little benefit in combat.
the EW-16B only had a short service with the failed radar resulting in increased avionics demands, however it accrued more ace pilots than all of its predecessors combined and set the current standard for aircraft stability and aerodynamic control.
