(Fictional) SS Austral was a small 261 tonne coastal liner built for the Gosford and Newcastle Steam Ship Company in 1877 in England. It served Routes from Newcastle to Gosford and Sydney. A experimental 3 rudder setup was used to allow the ship to have a tight turning radius and better low speed manuverabity. She operated from 1877-1933 when the Pacific Highway was completed and made her redundant. She was scraped later that year in 1934.
