William M. Joel | Steam Tugboat
Special Thanks
Thank you so much to Cab12003. I cannot express how thankful I am for him putting up with all my stupid questions that revolved around getting this tug built.
History
Fictional history to coincide for what this was built for.
The William M. Joel- A 29 Meter wooden harbor tug powered by a 350 Horsepower single cylinder double acting steam engine- serviced New York harbor from its construction in the early 1920s into the 1970s. Its early life was very standard however post WWII It was sold to Frontier Star Line and serviced primarily their inbound cargo freighters however, with the introduction of the NS Colonial in the late 50s, Frontier Star Line moved the W. M. Joel into position to service it. The William M. Joel was decommissioned and put up for scrap after a collision breached the hull during operations. Although the tug was fine, it was outdated in the eyes of Frontier Star Line and was viewed as a burden.
Operating
[list]
[*] Light the boiler.
[*] Control movement using any of the 3 control panels, situated on the engine and port and starboard side of the pilothouse.
[*] Whistle is activated using the rope above the wheel
[*] Don't turn on the desalination pumps if you don't plan to use the whistle a lot, it will build up pressure in the boiler and mess with the condensing loop.
