WEEK ONE B42.16+ MULTIPLAYER (FIXED) - TESTED AND WORKING!!!!
Originally created by Slayer. This is an unofficial bugfix and update to make the mod compatible with Build 42.16+. Bug fixes were made with the assistance of Claude AI (Anthropic). This is provided as-is with no guarantee that everything works perfectly — use at your own risk.
ABOUT
Week One Single Player has not been coded properly for multiplayer architecture, so Slayer started rewriting the multiplayer version from scratch.
This is a TEST version with only one "Day One" like scenario. The mod contains some features you already know, some features that have been improved, but also some new ideas.
BUG FIXES IN THIS VERSION
Fixed vehicle spawn positions being offset (Y-coordinate calculation bug)
Fixed mass bandit spawning that caused server FPS crashes (added conversion cap)
Fixed instrument sounds persisting after NPC death
Updated for Build 42.16+ compatibility
HOW IT WORKS
You should add this mod to a fresh world. Do not play this in single player mode, you can play this alone or with friends in multiplayer mode.
Initially all players joining the server will be teleported to a Waiting Room. You can wait for other players, or vote to start the game by clicking on your name. Once all players have voted ready, the time starts ticking, and you are all teleported to the same spawn location.
GUIDE / TROUBLESHOOTING
It will NOT work in single-player mode!
All players need to have game version 42.16+. In Steam, go to Library, right click on Project Zomboid, click Properties, click Betas, select the latest unstable build, let Steam download the version.
All players need to have two mods fully downloaded:
Bandits2 (REQUIRED dependency)
This mod (Bandits Week One Multiplayer Fixed)
For local hosting, in game, click Host, edit settings and select the two mods and also select them in the Steam tab. Start the game. Then use Steam overlay to invite your friends.
For dedicated host you need to edit these lines in your ini file:
Mods=\Bandits2;\BanditsWeekOneMultiplayer
WorkshopItems=3268487204;3705947493
For Linux dedicated servers also change this:
DoLuaChecksum=false
Never add mods to an existing world, always start with a new one.
If still having issues, disable any other mods — they may be interfering.
If still having issues, do not change sandbox settings.
KNOWN BUGS
Some/most characters lose their loot and clothes when they die. It's still a mystery how the game handles multiplayer deaths.
Game may crash occasionally due to in-game engine bugs.
Map chunks may load with some lag — driving fast is not recommended.
