Yak-130D

2020 Advanced Trainer / Light CAS Platform - Yak-130D-30 - Myanmar

Overview

The Yak-130 is not a frontline dogfighter—it’s a precision-focused trainer and light attack aircraft built for controlled strikes and system management rather than close-range air combat. This build emphasizes realistic limitations, weapon behavior, and pilot coordination, rewarding disciplined flying over aggressive maneuvering.

Designed primarily for training and light CAS operations, this aircraft carries a versatile but specialized loadout:
- 3× Lancer long-range air-to-ground missiles
- 8× Viker-IK IR-guided air-to-ground missiles
- 4× R-73 air-to-air missiles
Each weapon system has strict operational roles and limitations.

The Lancer missiles are designed for long-range, low-altitude precision strikes. They are highly unstable at close range and must be launched beyond 5 km, but can reach extreme distances when used correctly. Improper use will result in guidance failure.

The Viker-IK missiles provide flexible engagement options, capable of being launched from close range and even performing extreme maneuvers such as target reacquisition after launch. They can engage targets in unconventional situations, but still require proper spacing to function reliably.
The R-73 missiles are short-range IR air-to-air weapons. They must be primed before launch, and once a target is acquired, the pilot will receive a visual cue on the HUD along with an audio tone.

Optics & Targeting Systems
The aircraft features a dedicated rear-seat optical targeting system.
Optics are rear-seat only
Must be manually stabilized before use
Can lock onto targets, but accuracy depends on aircraft stability
Due to early-generation targeting logic, the system is only fully accurate when the pilot engages stability assist to level the aircraft. Failure to do so will result in noticeable targeting errors.

Additional optic controls include:
- Keypad target input system
- Camera reset for gimbal limits / rear-lock issues
- Anti-chaff toggle (Viker-IK missiles only)
The pilot also has access to radar-assisted targeting for guiding air-to-ground missiles, but the radar is extremely inconsistent due to aircraft limitations and should not be relied on for precision work.

Flight Performance & Range
- Fuel capacity: 2500 kg
- Effective range: up to ~1500 km at ~38% throttle
- Speed range: ~210 km/h (low) to ~650 km/h (cruise)
- Glide performance is limited but usable, averaging roughly:
~2 km horizontal per ~1.8 km altitude

Survivability Systems
48× Chaff countermeasures
MAW (Missile Approach Warning) system
The MAW system detects incoming missile threats and alerts the pilot, giving you time to deploy countermeasures and evade. However, survival still depends heavily on pilot awareness and positioning.

Important Notes
This aircraft is not designed for dogfighting
Best used in controlled strike roles and training scenarios
Requires coordination between pilot and rear seat for maximum effectiveness
Startup Reminder:
Ensure main power is enabled in the pilot cockpit before operation.

This build prioritizes realism, limitations, and system depth over simplicity. Mastery comes from understanding how—and when—to use each system effectively.

GUIDANCE TYPES & DESCRIPTIONS

GNSS
Uses satellite navigation to guide the missile to precise coordinates on the ground. Provides long-range accuracy by continuously calculating the missile's position in flight.

IOG
Guides the missile toward the target's last known location. Useful when active tracking is lost, ensuring the missile continues toward the predicted position of the target.

TAD (Top-Attack Delivery)
The missile climbs and attacks from above, exploiting weaker top armor and bypassing frontal defenses while clearing terrain and obstacles.

TERCOM
Terrain Contour Matching. The missile uses **LiDAR** sensors to scan terrain below and compare it with stored terrain data, enabling accurate low-altitude flight over complex landscapes.

RDar(Ver)
Radar guidance. The missile uses an onboard radar to detect and lock onto the target once it comes within range, allowing precise terminal homing.

RCCM
Radar Counter-Countermeasures. Enables the missile to ignore basic electronic defenses like chaff or angle-based countermeasures, maintaining target lock.
