About KPV4
---
KPV4 or LAV G1 is the 5th LAV I have created over my lifetime. The third LAV -E3/E4 native to space engineers (it might be fun to convert to SW), and the LAV F currently being gutted and reworked into a survival ready state. It improves over the LAV E/F by being much smaller in size, and cost, while maintaining most of it's capability!
A big portion of why my previous LAV versions were so large was to create as much room in between the driver compartments and the enemy. If you die as the player, you lose the vehicle anyways, so it is more fun to survive and stay in the fight. Unfortunately Stormworks vehicles tend to be rather large while doing this, so the goal of KPV4 was to improve over previous variants while reducing the size.
Many trade-offs had to be made, such as accommodations relating to the gun elevation, some amount of survivability for the crew was sacrificed, as well as reloading had to become more of a manual process to fit it within the small turret.
The Supercharged V8 engine is actually quite powerful when run at full throttle, however, the heat generated from it would have been unsustainable, thus the compromise was to limit the engine to only 45% of it's power output, and further reduce it's output beyond a certain temperature. In return, I have given the operator a switch to reclaim 5% of it's engine output for when you would need it most.
Propellers are driven by electric motors separate from the main grid, utilizing their own generators to power them. for this reason, power output on the propellers is not very strong. At 100% you may only get 7kph over water, so while swimming across the arctic is an idea, I would largely advise against it.
Overall, I hope you enjoy this creation!
