"What's this?" you think to yourself, "ANOTHER Smoked Meat mod? Oh great. As if there aren't a hundred of those, usually buried in some modpack from hell. Why should I bother with this guy? *checks Zaljerem's Workshop* Zalisbury Steak? Come on."
Here's a few reasons why you should, err, inject my smoked meat into your Rimworld game:
1. I pilfer only the finest defs and assets from mods across the Rimworld Workshop. Yeah, you've seen that firepit before. The smoker too. The smoked meat texture is suspiciously familiar. Why change what works?
2. Though you may have seen this stuff before - and might even be running other smoked meat mods - my defs are all refactored, so your game shouldn't choke on Zal's Smoked Meat! Your item list might get cluttered and interesting, but to the game engine, "Zal_Smokepit" is entirely different from "Smokepit"! Yay!
3. No C#, so no worries about assemblies and lengthy waits for mod updates. Also, no additional mods are required for this one. Smoking in this mod is a straight-up Cooking task (albeit a long one).
4. Do you like smoked fish? I DO! And if you run any ONE of the fishing mods listed below, loading this mod after will allow you to smoke fish as well. As an added bonus, if you run Ideology, smoked fungus becomes available.

Then, smoked fish is also added. Please note that due to how fish are weighted in VFE, it may take more or less ingredients to produce 10 or 40 (RF, TFATF, and FishIndustry are 1-to-1). Right now it is tuned to 9 cod for 10 smoked fish - I don't really use VFE so any tuning suggestions are helpful.
If you run the Ideology DLC, smoked fungus becomes available. It can't be used as an ingredient (the fungus properties would be lost as ingredients don't carry after being cooked again), only as a meal. (Actually, I may be wrong about this, I'll verify and if it does carry the fungus properties, I'll refactor it to be like the meat/fish)
Smoked meat/fish requires raw meat/fish, stays fresh for 60 days. Can also be used as kibble/pemmican/meal ingredient [1.3 only, 1.4 it is like pemmican]. Ya know, pretty much exactly how smoked meat worked in ZARS Tribalism ... 'cause that's where I cribbed the initial defs from ...
