Mortar Class Research Vessel

The Mortar Class is a wartime research vessel designed to operate in colder environments. "I can't tell if they are going to take photos, or kill us." - Local Fisherman after seeing a passing Mortar class Designed in 1982, The Mortar class features an active stabilizer, advanced radar system, and many surveillance cameras. It was initially created to be a cargo ship, but due to the design of the hull it was retrofitted to be an arctic research vessel. After the 1987 Expeditions, the Mortar class was sent to be scrapped. About 2 months after the announcement, many PMCs and research groups purchased these vessels. During the main part of the war on terror, many Mortar class ships were sent out by research groups to provide aid. The 6 PMC owned Mortar classes aided NATO troops throughout the conflict. Once the conflict settled down, most Mortar classes returned to the arctic to resume normal operations.
