Wayback Rod -- Craftable Single-Use Teleportatio

Wayback Rod — Never lose your safehouse again. The Wayback Rod is a craftable, single-use teleportation item that brings you back to where you created the Rod. WORKS IN BOTH SINGLEPLAYER AND (should, tested in host mode)MULTIPLAYER!(should, tested in host mode) currently has a game breaking bug where if the tome is in a container and NOT in the players inventory when they go to read it, it will not give them the recipe. This will be fixed in the next update. I have been working on this for a little bit because it is a feature that I wanted. It ran for me using the different features with no errors in single player, fingers crossed it works for you, let me know if you come across errors, include the error message please. Multiplayer should work, still needs stress testing to make sure. Fun Fact: Do NOT try to make server mods with an Athlon A10 with 16gb of ram, it is very much not fun crashing 95% of the time.. HOW IT WORKS Find the Tome of Runic Memory in libraries, bookstores, or bookshelves. Read all 329 pages to learn how to craft a Wayback Rod. Assemble one from a butter knife, rubber bands, paperclips, a mirror, an eraser, and a pencil — crafting at any flat surface marks your current coordinates. When you need to get out, right-click the rod and select "Go Back". After a 2-second channel, you teleport back to the marked location. The rod is destroyed on use. TWO ROD TYPES Wayback Rod — Learned from the Tome. Unlimited range under ideal conditions. Stable, consistent, reliable. The good stuff. Normal Rod Range — no range cap at all unless the player is "severely impaired" (5+ bad moodles or body health below 50%), at which point it gets a capped range of 400 tiles (200 poor base + 200 bonus), modified by: Stealth skills — up to +40 tiles bonus Nighttime (21:00–05:00) — +50 tiles bonus Storms/weather — severity >0.3 = -40 tiles, >0.6 = -70 tiles Injuries — this IS what triggers the cap in the first place (severelyImpaired) Wayback Rod (Poor Quality) — Craftable by anyone without the Tome. Limited range, always spawns a few zombies on arrival, and the results are unpredictable. Desperate times call for desperate rods. Poor Rod Range — hard range cap (base 200 tiles), modified by: Stealth skills — up to +40 tiles bonus Nighttime (21:00–05:00) — +50 tiles bonus Storms/weather — severity >0.3 = -40 tiles, >0.6 = -70 tiles Injuries/moodles — up to -20 tiles maximum (scales with condPenalty, capped at 20) Both rods require the same ingredients: a butter knife, 15 rubber bands, 8 paper clips, a mirror, a pencil, and an eraser — plus light and a table. Crafting and using a Wayback Rod is loud and can be heard by nearby zombies. NOTHING IS FREE Teleportation takes a toll on your body and your accuracy.

Weather — Rain, fog, and snow cause landing drift. Heavy storms may attract zombies to your arrival point. Recall during bad weather at your own risk.
Injuries and Condition — Hunger, exhaustion, pain, and panic all increase drift. Severe injuries can limit normal rod range. Stay healthy for the cleanest recalls.
Overweight — Extra weight adds drift and causes pain on arrival. Exceed the limit and the rod refuses to work entirely.
Stealth Skills — Lightfooted, Nimble, and Sneaking reduce drift, reduce zombie spawns, and extend poor rod range. A skilled survivor gets more out of every rod.
Good Condition — Well-fed, hydrated, rested, and calm? Your recalls are cleaner with less drift.
Temperature — Every recall chills your body. Chain multiple recalls and you will feel the cold.
Zombie Bite During Channel — Get bitten or scratched while channeling and the attacking zombie may follow you through the rift.
ZOMBIE HERDING When you recall, the rod creates a loud disturbance at your departure point — much louder than the sound at your destination. Lead a horde away from your base, activate the rod, and most of the zombies stay where you left them. A few persistent ones may still track you down, but the bulk of the horde is left behind investigating the noise. ROD NAMING SYSTEM Right-click any marked rod and select "Rename" to give it a custom location name. Label your rods "Safe House", "Gas Station Run", "Emergency Escape" — the name shows on the item and is logged when used or destroyed. Leave it blank to reset to the default. CRAFTABLE JUNK ITEMS The mod adds several new craftable items used as rod ingredients and found throughout the world:

Rubber Band Ball — Craft from 25 rubber bands.
Box of Pencils — Pack 12 pencils into a box.
Box of Erasers — Pack 6 erasers into a box.
All crafting ingredients spawn naturally in offices, schools, classrooms, desks, bookshelves, bathrooms, and homes. ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Z-level safety — Prevents landing on rooftops, in open air, or underground. Automatically finds the nearest safe floor.
Vehicle engine auto-shutoff — Recalls across chunk boundaries automatically shut off nearby vehicle engines to prevent wasted fuel.
Illiterate support — Can't read the Tome? Study the Runes instead for an alternate use.
Thunderstorm events — Recalling during an active thunderstorm spawns additional zombies near your destination.
Lucky and unlucky crafting — Small chance a poor rod upgrades to regular on craft, or a regular rod downgrades to poor.
Build 42 compatible — Built from the ground up for B42 APIs and crafting systems.
CRAFTING RECIPES Wayback Rod: Butter Knife + 15 Rubber Bands + 8 Paper Clips + Mirror + Pencil + Eraser (Requires Tome knowledge, surface and light required) Wayback Rod (Poor Quality): Butter Knife + 15 Rubber Bands + 8 Paper Clips + Mirror + Pencil + Eraser (No Tome needed, surface and light required) WHERE TO FIND THE TOME The Tome of Runic Memory spawns in bookstores, libraries, school bookshelves, bedroom shelves, living room shelves, magazine racks, and wardrobes. It is rare — finding one is part of the challenge. COMPATIBILITY

Designed to work on PZ Build 42.16
Singleplayer (Everything should work fine)
Multiplayer (Everything should work fine)
RECENTLY UPDATED

Added a range cap to the normal rod
UPCOMING

Still working on the last round of thing to add, change or fix. Then I will test everything a lot, debug, and finally update soon.. (hopefully by this weekend, April 25th)
New skill to use the Wayback Rod
Changes to when the poor rod can be crafted, now requires recipe to be learned from the Tome.
Normal Rod recipe is learned by the Tome, or granted when the player hits skill level 5
A handful of other changes to make above work and feel right.
New something or other I will mention when I finally update, new items could be risky to use...
Fix any bugs
Add more features
Mod by Kinyoshi (KinyoshiMods) Donate if you'd like, thank you.[ko-fi.com] Workshop ID: 3693137613 Mod ID: WaybackRod
