Using a new hair mode can make the character feel bad. This is due to the restriction of the type of hair style when ideological dlc starts the game. If you start a new game, create and save an ideology that includes the desired hair mode, load the ideology that you saved using Character Editor mode, and force the characters to change the ideology using developer tools, it will work.
