Bang Berries. The purpose of this plant is to serve as a crafting item for various weapon mods that add ammunition. There may be a sister plant, leadtece, or brass barnacles (name pending) which would replace the majority of steel in crafting recipes for ammo. This mod is mostly directed towards Yayo Combat 3 which has a very lackluster ammunition system, the mechanics are solid but the ammunition crafting needs work.
Steel is a valuable resource and making players consume large amounts of it for ammunition breaks balance and using chemfuel as a stand in for propellant is nonsensical.
It adds the plant, the berries, and the explosive nature to both of them. They have been given a custom damage def for explosions so they don't vaporize pawns anymore but they are still deadly so handle with care. Make sure to store them away from powerlines and if possible put them in a cave to protect them from mortars as your base would turn into the USS Arizona otherwise.
The plant can also be used to construct manually activated traps, bangberry piles that explode when shot or can be ignited by a pawn which would explode after a amount of time.
Yayo Combat 3 is patched. These recipes are based off the ones from the mod.
>industrial ammo (for 20): 5 steel 15 bang berries
>industrial ammo fire/explosive (for 20): 25 bang berries
>spacer ammo (for 20): 2 steel, 3 plasteel, 20 bang berries
>spacer ammo fire/explosive (for 20): 4 uranium, 25 bang berries
>special ammo is unchanged.
This is a massive difference in the amount of steel used. For 20 rounds of industrial it was 16 steel. I was inspired to make this mod after several large raids of maneaters and mechanoids completely drain my steel reserves.
Also adds industrial ammo to the smithy and electric smithy.
Combat Extended is patched.
>1:1 replacement of chemfuel in the synthesizing of FSX at the Drug Lab or refinery.
>other changes may come down the line after I actually use the mod to see
Other mods that add other FSX production methods are unchanged. Like Rimfeller that has FSX production buildings.
The plant currently has zero usage as food as it's a high yield plant (6 days, 25 harvest), the idea behind it being high yield is that I don't want players turning their entire base into a powderkeg: you don't need to plant alot of it. But you still need to be smart about where you plant it and the way it synergizes with thunderstorms and wildfires makes for a interesting gameplay addition.
Oh and the vanilla mortar shells use bang berries instead of chemfuel (except incendiary).
Planned additions:
- implementation of ammo recipes patches to CE (I don't use it but I'll figure it out)
- custom hediff that makes pawns act like boomalopes if consumed.
- weapons made from bang berries
- food items, bang berry pie that also doubles as grenades
- leadtece plant
