Connie's Echo Creek Spawn Location
Connie's Echo Creek Spawn Location
This mod adds the vanilla Echo Creek from b42.15.3 back into b42.16+. All that's missing is the video. Maybe I'll figure that out later since it would be neat for new saves.
Instructions
Works fine with new saves.
If you want to add this mod to an existing save, click "Load" on the main menu, select your save, and then click "More." After that click "Choose Mods..." and enable the mod. Click "Accept" and you should be fine.
For adding this mod to a multiplayer save/server, see the comment below by edwin_fox. Huge thanks to you since I'm of no help with that. 💜

It works in MP, I've just tested it. If you experience crashes or funky behavior (say, having a gravestone in your inventory and tons of fish scattered on the floor), try this:

mirror your servertest config files (servertest.ini etc, or whatever the name of your server core files)

rename them to whatever

host that new server either host or dedicated (each on their own way)

wait for the world to generate, then shut server

go to THAT server's savefiles folder, copy all files named "worlddictionary'

paste/merge them into your previous-version server saves folder

restart your previous server as normal
This worked fine here (so far), even having a dozen-plus mods active (further testing needed). Also, BACKUP YOUR SAVES FOLDER
If this doesn't work, you can try buckma22's Java patch:

I've personally used it to continue an unmodded server started all the way back in 42.13.1, and a modded server started in 42.14.1. a lot of people have found success with it :lunar2020ratinablanket:
FAQ
Q: How/Why does this "fix" my save?
A: Because apparently the game handles spawn points the same as map files, and loading a save with a missing map isn't possible. Since this mod adds the map back to your game when enabled, everything is fine on that side. There may be other incompatibilities though.
Q: Why doesn't this "fix" my save?
A: Because there might be other reasons why the developers said that saves aren't compatible. The map being there just solves the hard limitation imposed by the game to load a save.
Q: Isn't that Ekron on the preview picture?
A: Yes, that's Ekron and not Echro Creek. As to why, though, you'll have to ask TIS because I just copied the files from b42.15.3.
Q: Was this an intentional fix?
A: No, it was purely coincidental. I didn't read about the broken saves until after the mod was finished and published.
Q: Then why did you make this mod?
A: I haven't really played B42, and after reading about the removal of Echo Creek as a starting location, I was disappointed that I wouldn't get to experience it. There were also a lot of posts in the Zomboid subreddit where people talked about how disappointed they were. After b42.16 was released, I thought it'd be a nice challenge to see how fast I could get it back in.
I've dabbled a little in modding PZ, but I had no idea how spawn points worked or how to add one (back in). So, I spent some time trying to figure things out, comparing the b42.15.3 files with the new ones. After I found the files I needed, I went to check out another b42 starting location mod (I sadly forgot which one, sorry!!) to get an idea of how to add Echo Creek back in. I honestly spent the most time figuring out where to put things in folders and way too much time trying to figure out why the video wasn't working. 🤣 Other than that, my mod just adds the exact same vanilla Echo Creek from b42.15.3 back into b42.16+.
It was purely coincidental that my mod fixed the loading of existing save games since all I set out to do was get Echo Creek back as a possible starting location for new saves as quickly as possible.
Q: How can I support you?
A: Please leave a nice comment. I just did this because it's fun and because I love the game. 💜
