When a raid is imminent, hostile human factions will offer a "protection fee" based on your wealth. Pay to be left alone, or refuse and prepare for battle.[/b] [hr] Features [list] [*] [b]Raid Interception:[/b] Most human-like raids (including quest-related ones and those from mods) will demand tribute before attacking. [*] [b]Dynamic Pricing:[/b] Fees scale with raid intensity and your total wealth—the bigger the threat, the higher the price. [*] [b]Flexible Payment:[/b] Pay with silver or barter using any items, resources, animals, slaves, and prisoners on your map. [*] [b]Custom Demand Policies:[/b] Lets you customize which payment items a faction accepts—such as disabling junk payments—and allows different factions to have unique needs. [*] [b]Strategic Choice:[/b] Buy time when you're vulnerable, or fight to keep your wealth. [*] [b]Human-like Only:[/b] Mechanoids and insects don't negotiate—this only applies to human threats. [*] [b]Double-cross (Default: Disabled):[/b] There is a chance they will take the fee and raid anyway. [*] [b]Performance Friendly:[/b] Extremely lightweight. Logic only runs at the moment a raid triggers. [/list] [hr] Why was this made? Designed for players who prefer a non-combat focus or those caught at a vulnerable moment. It adds immersion—smart raiders should logically prefer easy loot over a bloody shootout. [b]Q: How is the protection fee different from VFE-Settlers?[/b] A: VFE-Settlers adds a specific new event that only accepts Silver. This mod covers most humanoid raids—including those from other mods—and allows payment with any resource. [b]Q: How is the protection fee calculated?[/b] A: It starts as low as 100 Silver. As raid points increase, the cost scales toward a percentage of your non-building wealth (default max is 20%, but you can adjust this in the settings). The math follows a quadratic curve, meaning fees grow slowly in the early game but ramp up significantly as the threat level rises. These percentage ranges are fully customizable in the mod settings.
