Ice Guy[B42.16+]

Ice Guy ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Keep your food fresh on the move. Fill an ice cube tray, freeze it, pull out the ice, and drop it in your cooler — your supplies stay cold for hours. A roleplay-focused cooler simulation mod. If you prefer something more hands-off, check out my other mod CoolerPlus. ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── HOW TO USE ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── 1. Find an empty ice cube tray (looted from kitchen containers) 2. Right-click a water source (sink, etc.) to fill it — or craft a filled tray directly 3. Put the filled tray in a freezer and wait for it to freeze 4. Move the tray to your inventory — the game converts it to a frozen tray 5. Craft to extract the ice cubes 6. Place the ice in your cooler and you're good to go ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── ICE SYSTEM ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── - Empty trays are found in kitchen loot - Fill at any water source via right-click, or use the crafting menu - Freeze in a freezer (move the tray to your inventory once to trigger the conversion) - Extracted ice is consumed by the cooler over time, or spoils if left out — it cannot be reused ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── COLD PACK SYSTEM ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── - Freeze a standard cold pack and place it in your cooler — no extra steps - Lighter than ice and fully reusable - When both ice and a cold pack are present in the same cooler, ice is consumed first ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── COOLING SYSTEM ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── - Cooling begins automatically once ice or a cold pack is placed inside - A blue overlay on the cooler inventory indicates active cooling (fridge-equivalent freshness) - Stack multiple cooling sources and the cooler runs itself — no manual intervention needed - Note: the first cooling item may be consumed faster than expected (10–60 min). This is intentional — it represents the energy needed to bring the warm cooler interior down to temperature ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── LIMITATIONS ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── - Cooling only applies to coolers carried on your character - Items placed on the ground or stored in containers are not processed - This is by design — the mod focuses on active food transport, not static storage - Coolers can be equipped to a body slot to make carrying them practical ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── SANDBOX OPTIONS ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Ice & Cold Pack Duration — 1 to 5 hours How long each cooling item lasts before being consumed. Default: 1 hour. (Does not affect the initial warm-up consumption.) Freshness Preservation Rate — 0.1 to 1.0 Controls how much the cooling effect slows food spoilage. 1.0 = spoilage fully stopped. Default: 0.8 (equivalent to a refrigerator). ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── OPTIONAL MOD ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Enable "Easy Cooler Spawns" to add vanilla coolers to kitchen loot tables, making them easier to find in the world. ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── NOTES ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── B42.17.0: Confirmed MP functionality and fixed an issue where items could not be equipped. Note: Please be aware that multiplayer (MP) has inherent synchronization issues with the base game. When an active cooler contains items, the spoilage progress may visually appear as if the freshness is being restored. However, the data will only synchronize correctly once the item is removed or moved. As a result, it may look like the item spoils instantly upon retrieval. Through comparative testing, we have confirmed that the mod's spoilage prevention effect is functioning correctly based on the freshness levels from when the items were first stored. Please exercise caution when determining whether the mod is malfunctioning or if you are simply seeing visual discrepancies caused by base game desync, as synchronization issues can display inaccurate information.
