Welcome to Placebo: For all your mothballing (and other) needs
Disclaimer: If you care about immersion and don't want to have raiders suddenly die when they raid you, do not use this mod
Placebo was originally created as a joke mod that didn't do anything practical as a form of catharsis after seeing a lot of ai performance optimizer mods. Its goal was to show that via the placebo effect alone, people would claim they were getting better performance. However, in one of the updates I added an aggressive mothball patch that was not made clear besides a vague patch note about the moths balling harder.
Since then, I have decided to remove the majority of the meme elements from the main mod and now this mod does actually do something that can help improve performance. This mod has a patch that will add aggressive mothballing to any and all hediffs that do not already have it. While vanilla is pretty good about mothballing, a lot of times modded hediffs can end up blocking pawns from being mothballed, hence why this patch exists and why it was an option in performance fish back in 1.5 (and maybe in 1.6 once it's updated, at time of writing PF isn't out yet)
The result? More worldpawns will be mothballed reducing how many of them tick improving performance especially in older games where they may be thousands of worldpawns. But it can also lead to situations like a raider who was bleeding out when they fled off the map comes back later and dies within moments. Thus, I urge any user of this mod to consider if they want raw performance or immersion. If it's the latter, do not use this mod. In general, I'd suggest only using this mod if you desperately need to claw back performance and you notice that you have a suspicious amount of worldpawns not being mothballed.
New with v1.1
Placebo now has a mod settings menu that appears when XML Extensions is loaded, allowing me to add in more tweaks that can be enabled or disabled by the player depending on what they want to have and not have. Right now, there's only a setting to remove the glowcomp from fires, but more are likely to be thrown in as I'm either suggested them or discover them myself. Enjoy :)
FAQ
Q: CE?
A: Should be compatible since all this mod does is add aggressive mothballing
Q: Will this mod break other mods?
A: It shouldn't and if it does, that's likely the mod's fault and not Placebo's as mothballing is a vanilla mechanic
