The FV North American is a 91-foot rugged offshore crab fishing vessel designed to operate in the harsh conditions of the Bering Sea. Built for endurance, stability, and heavy deck operations, this vessel is capable of handling demanding crab pot deployments while maintaining excellent seakeeping in rough northern waters. Commissioned in 1975 by Edgar Skaar, it was formerly captained by Captain Sten Skaar and his brother, Captain John Skaar. Although an incident occurred following repairs in 2024, the vessel sank at the dock in Seattle, Washington, leaving the vessel to be offered for sale.
