S.S. Cyprus

HISTORY: Cyprus, unlike some of the other vessels in the fleet was built for long distance passenger services that would last upwards of several days to a week. Cyprus was furnished with greater passenger accommodations when compared to other vessels. She, and later her sister Calypso ran this service for their entire lifespan. Cyprus's service would be cut short, however. Only about a decade into her career, Cyprus grounded on rocks in the middle of the night while on a routine voyage. Foggy weather and strong winds had blown her off course and into the rocky sawyer coastline. There were zero casualties, and everyone was successfully evacuated within the following day. While she had taken on water, she remained above the surface due to her being wedged between jagged rocks. The downside was, she was immovable, even after weeks of tireless work. North Cape Lines deemed Cyprus a total loss, and she still sits there, slowly falling apart and being reclaimed by the sea. She serves as a warning to be cautious and safe when navigating the fatal shores of Sawyer.
