Custom Sliding Hatch With Sealing Door Plug
Testbed subassembly to demonstrate a custom sliding hatch with an interal door plug to seal the compartment under the hatch. This was designed to be used on the deck of ships where, for aesthetic or design reasons, you may want to have a large custom sliding hatch for a cargo hold, but need it to seal properly so it doesn't flood.
The hatch and door plug are activated using the key button to open the hatch. The included microcontroller will raise the door plug using a linear actuator and, after a short delay to allow the plug to clear the frame, the hatch assembly will slide back.
Turning the key off to close the hatch will send the hatch back to its original position. Once in position and locked in place using a hardpoint, the plug will lower and the door will seal.
