Royal Canadian Navy Halifax Multi-Role Patrol Guided Missile Frigate

The pride of the Royal Canadian Navy finally sails in Stormworks.

The Halifax-class frigate — also known as the City class — has been the backbone of the Royal Canadian Navy since 1992. Born from the Canadian Patrol Frigate Project of the mid-1970s, HMCS Halifax was the first of twelve Canadian-designed and Canadian-built vessels, combining anti-submarine warfare with surface and air defence capabilities. Now, she's yours to command.

This is a faithful, scaled recreation of the class as a whole, built around Stormworks combat systems and designed to be crewed by a single operator. Scaled to approximately half-size to fit the standard workbench, this build does not sacrifice detail for accessibility — it delivers both.

Cost: $682,000 | Mass: 100,335 kg

Citadel Command Information Centre with triple-walled protection
Dedicated pump room with large bulkhead compartmentalisation for exceptional damage control
Active Weight Stabiliser — maintains stability in rough seas and during heavy one-sided flooding
Integrated radar, sonar, and autopilot systems
Performance friendly — developed and tested on a GTX 1050
Single-operator capable — simple startup and combat procedures, no prior experience required

Armament

Main Gun

57mm/70 calibre AG145 Heavy Autocannon (Jarrmarine), mounted on the forecastle.

Close-In Air Defence

JM Mk24 Compact SAM Launcher, firing 6× NNTC AIM-92 Stinger missiles for short-range aircraft interception.

Long-Range Air Defence (1km+)

Two four-cell JM Mk105 Vertical Launch System launchers (port and starboard of the funnel), carrying 18 Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missiles in total.

Anti-Ship

RGM-84D Harpoon Block 1C missiles (Jarrmarine) — two twin-launch tubes at main deck level between the funnel and helicopter hangar, plus one missile in each VLS block for long-range engagement (1km+). A single Harpoon hit will sink most vessels; this Halifax can survive three or more thanks to its damage control systems.

Anti-Submarine / Anti-Surface

Mark 46 torpedoes (Pufferfish Systems), launched from twin Mark 32 Mod 9 torpedo tubes on the port side forward of the helicopter hangar.

Close-In Weapon System

Modified Phalanx Mark 15 Mod 21 CIWS, mounted on top of the helicopter hangar. Recoded as a fully automatic system that will not target the ship's own helicopter when stored.

Bridge Wing Armament

Two 7.62mm machine guns for anti-personnel and small craft defence.

Aircraft

This Halifax carries a HN-11 "Marlus" light naval helicopter gunship in place of the standard CH-124 Sea King, sized to fit the hangar. The Marlus features:

· Pilot and co-pilot positions with capacity for 4 passengers
· 2 radar-guided missiles
· 2 light autocannons
· 360° radar with 1,000m range
· Chaff launcher

The hangar includes a weather information display, an EC recharge system to prevent battery drain while docked, fully functional closing doors, and a launching tray capable of deploying the helicopter in extreme weather conditions.

VLS, Harpoon, Main Gun & SAM Battery

See the pinned discussion for full operating instructions provided by the weapon system creator.
⚠️ Important: Ensure VLS and Harpoon missiles have a target at 1km or greater. Firing at shorter ranges may cause the missile to enter a search pattern that could endanger the ship.
