John C. Butler-class destroyer escort

This is an approximation of a John C. Butler-class destroyer escort, She is using an approximation of the actual camouflage of USS Samuel B. Roberts., Measure 32, Design 22D. Features: Two single Battle Cannon Turrets (5”38), on centerline with 105 rounds each Four Heavy Anti-Aircraft guns (40mm Bofurs) in two twin mounts on centerline with 300 rounds per barrel. 10 Light Anti-Aircraft guns (20mm Oerlikon) in single mounts, with 1000 rounds per barrel. Three torpedoes in a centerline mount. 10 Depth charges 6 hedgehog depth bomb launchers. -Two V8 3x3 Modular engines -One V6 3x3 modular generator, capable of ~2070 watts. -Full compartmentalization -Automated bilge and vent pumps in each watertight compartment below decks, two fire mains feeding numerous hose anchors all over the ship. -Air and surface search radar with map plot for radar contacts. -Active and passive sonar Operations: --Bridge -Engines are started from helm, as well as gear selection, clutch and throttle, with a Throttle indicator next to the wheel. -Generator auto starts when the ship is spawned, but can be shut down from the panel to starboard of the helm. It has 3 operating modes, minimum/default (50% throttle, ~570 Watts) High (70% throttle, 1100 watts and Emergency (100% throttle 2070 watts) selectable with buttons to the right of the helm. Generator at minimum power is sufficient to power the entire ship and keep the batteries charged. -Search Radars are controlled left of the Helm, on at spawn and have separate radars for air and surface targets. Surface targets will show red on the screens, and air targets yellow. Very low flying air targets will show red. Each gives a different beep when detected. The Map display on the Starboard side of the bridge is by default displaying air search radar targets, but this can be changed with the button aft of the map panel -The helm and uses a HUD which tells you your current throttle setting, speed in knots and current heading. The horizontal look controls are connected to a small radar on a pivot, which gives you a range and relative bearing to any target you are looking at. -ASW/Sonar station located below the bridge. There are 3 sonars, two of the new sonars, one set for only passive (left), the other for only active (right). To the right of the ASW station is a display for the old depreciated sonar. The ship can be steered from the ASW seat, and there are options to toggle the throttle to idle or flank from the seat hotkeys. Weapon systems: Fire control is fairly rudimentary, primarily anti-aircraft. The ship can be steered from any weapons station. -There are four fire control stations on the ship for the guns: in front of the wheelhouse, aft of the torpedo launcher, and one on each bridge wing. Each Anti-Aircraft gun can be controlled from at least two stations, the main guns also have local control at each turret. All stations use look control for aiming. -The Forward position controls the forward main gun, forward Heavy AA gun and the forward four light AA guns. The light AA guns are limited by their arc of fire, so will only fire two at a time (target to port, port light guns will fire, etc.). -The Aft position controls the aft main gun, aft Heavy AA gun and the two aft light AA guns. As with the forward position, the light guns will only fire if aimed in their arc of fire. -The Bridge wing positions control every gun on their side of the ship, as well as both main guns and both heavy AA guns, which will rotate to face the side of the ship with the occupied fire control station. They have radar compensation for range, (hotkey 1), a Narrow mode (AA guns converge at roughly 600 meters). With radar range mode on, and an active radar target, the light guns will not fire unless the target is inside 600 meters. Hotkey 4 will use radar for elevation, which is primarily useful against surface targets. By default all AA guns are enabled, but can be disabled individually by a toggle button near each mount. Torpedoes can be fired from a seat on the mount, from buttons at back of the wheelhouse, or from the ASW station. Depth charges and Hedgehogs are fired from the ASW station. Each have detonators for both depth and impact. The depth can be set with the keypad between the sonar screens, if no depth is set it will default to the depth under the keel minus 5 meters. There is a minimum depth setting of 10 meters. Hedgehogs are in three launchers located on each side of the ship. Each fire will launch a groups of five, extending directly abeam and will drop from around 10 to 50 meters, roughly equally spaced. Depth Charges fall off the stern, one at a time. It is best that the ship is moving reasonably fast to prevent the chance of a shallow depth charge explosion triggering the remaining depth charges in the rack and damaging the ship. Notes: This is a fighting ship, to try and keep the file size and overhead down, I didn't include a lot of detail. There is no provision for passengers or rescue, very few lights, no sick bay and not much in the way of extras.
