Kamishiho Maru (Awaji Ferry)
MV Kamishiho Maru was built in 1968 for the Awaji Ferry Company of Japan, beginning her career as a reliable passenger vessel serving domestic routes. After twelve years of service, she was sold to Carlos A. Gothong Lines and renamed MV Doña Josefina, continuing her life at sea under the Philippine flag.
Tragically, on April 24,1986, MV Doña Josefina met a devastating fate when she sank, resulting in the loss of 194 lives.
Fun fact, she has a sister ship still active in Indonesia, the MV Kota Bumi of Jemla Ferry.
