TKB-408 — The Alien Ancestor

Built to chamber the powerful **7.62×41mm** cartridge, the TKB-408 moved the action behind the trigger. This allowed for a full-length rifle barrel in a carbine-sized frame, promising the range of a battle rifle with the maneuverability needed for tight urban corridors or dense forests. However, its avant-garde nature and the limitations of 1940s ergonomics led to its rejection in favor of more "conventional" designs.
On the Rim, the TKB-408 finds its true home. For colonists who fight in the cramped ruins of ancient complexes or deep inside mountain bases, this weapon offers the punch of a heavy prototype without the unwieldy length of a standard AK.
