Allows gravships to use an emergency launch during cooldown, trading safety for a tripled cooldown and guaranteed severe landing incidents.
Mechanics
When a gravship is on normal launch cooldown, the pilot console gains a new Emergency Launch button. Using it opens a special Emergency Gravship Launch window that clearly warns you what will happen:
- The launch cooldown shown in the window is tripled. This a guaranteed negative outcome.
- Another severe emergency related negative outcome will be randomly chosen.
Important rules:
- Emergency Launch only appears while the gravship is on cooldown.
- After an emergency launch lands, emergency launch is disabled for that gravship until it completes a normal launch again.
Emergency landing outcomes:
- Overstressed Grav Engine (Guaranteed effect)
[list] - The grav engine is pushed far past safe limits during landing.
- Result: the gravship’s launch cooldown is tripled.
[*] Double Fuel Consumption
- The emergency burn wastes huge amounts of fuel.
- Result: the launch consumes extra fuel after landing. If the ship does not have enough, it drains whatever remains.
[*] Severe Grav Nausea
- Everyone aboard suffers a much worse version of normal grav nausea.
- Result: all gravship pawns are hit with severe nausea that can last around 2 to 3 days.
[*] Structural Hull Damage
- The landing batters the ship’s hull.
- Result: roughly half of the gravship’s hull walls are damaged, with each wall taking heavy random damage.
[*] Psychic Shockwave
- The emergency descent tears through the local psychic field.
- Result: nearby pawns are affected, and some nearby colonists can be driven berserk. Others may suffer lingering neuroquake-like effects.
