Your pawns finally equip the right gear. Automatically.
Smart Gear analyzes each pawn's skills, traits, and ideology to detect their role. Based on role and current situation, it auto-equips the best available weapon, apparel, and supplies.
Zero configuration. Works out of the box. Override per-pawn if you want control.
Automatic Weapon Management
- Colony-wide optimization -- best fighters get best weapons
- Hunting jobs auto-equip best ranged weapon
- Brawler trait = melee, high shooting = ranged
- Ideology weapon precepts and trait preferences respected
Sidearms
- Auto-picks up a secondary weapon (melee for shooters, ranged for brawlers)
- Auto-draws melee when attacked in close combat
- Restores primary weapon when undrafted
Context-Aware Apparel
- Combat: armor and protection priority
- Work: job-stat bonuses (medical gear for doctors)
- Cold/Hot weather: insulation priority
- Nudist and ideology preferences respected
- Royal title requirements respected
Inventory Management
- Doctors auto-carry medicine (configurable count)
Per-Pawn Control
- Auto-detected role in Smart Gear tab
- Lock toggle to disable for specific pawns
- Manual role override
- Upgrade threshold prevents constant swapping
Roles
- Shooter -- High shooting, prefers ranged
- Brawler -- High melee or Brawler trait
- Doctor -- High medicine, medical gear, carries meds
- Worker -- Low combat, work-stat clothing
- Hunter -- Hunting job, long-range weapon
- Pacifist -- Cannot do violence
Compatibility
- Disable sidearms if using Simple Sidearms
- Safe to add or remove mid-save
