Vanilla Ice

Vanilla Ice adds ice blocks and snowballs to Rimworld for a low-tech cooler solution. These can be harvested in designated zones and collected, then they will melt to cool down rooms like a cooler. Now your tribals and medievals can build freezers without electricity! 🧊 Ice blocks are harvested from Ice terrain, or with Odyssey you can harvest it from Thin Ice. ⚪ Snowballs can be harvested from thin or thicker snow. Snowballs are about half as powerful as ice blocks. Custom ice and snow harvesting zones are used to tell your colonists where to get ice from and the mining skill is used for yield. Zones can have map-wide limits set. Pawns harvesting ice and snow (at low skill): One ice block stack will keep a cooler ice cold for about 2 days and snowballs will last about 1 day. This depends on your freezer design though. Caravans in above-freezing temperatures will slowly have their ice and snow blocks melt, but there is plenty of time to haul ice around. Vanilla Ice has a config menu if you would like to rebalance it to your liking. Save game compatibility **WARNING** Because Vanilla Ice has custom zones, it is NOT SAFE to remove it from a save with zones active. To uninstall, first remove all ice and snow harvesting zones and let the game run a little to clean up any lingering jobs. It will then be safe to remove from your mod list. You will receive one-time red errors from the ice blocks and snowballs, but nothing will break now.
