RimFired is a modular weapon mechanics framework that enhances RimWorld combat with realistic weapon systems.
The main focus of RimFired is to provide meaningful weapon mechanics without turning your entire modlist into a compatibility project.
Features (all features can be toggled in the HugsLib settings):
- Weapon reliability system with jams and malfunctions scaling by weapon quality and condition.
- Overheat system with heat accumulation per shot, passive cooling, and overheat lockout.
- Ammunition and magazine system with per-weapon ammo types and icons.
- Ammunition reloading bench for munition production. Pawns can scavenge ammo and store it in their inventory.
- Armorer job to keep your gear clean and operational.
- Squad role and loadout customization system.
- Pawn equipment system where pawns will re-equip their loadout gear if downed or injured.
- Enhanced projectile component with ricochet mechanics.
- Weapon health degradation through use over time.
- Weapon grime and fouling system — weapons accumulate fouling from firing, degrading accuracy and increasing jam chance. Pawns sit at a table to clean their weapons.
- Weapon casing ejection.
- Weapon manipulation awareness — skilled shooters notice empty magazines and reload proactively. Reload speed improves with shooting skill.
- Automatic reload, manual reload, and unjam actions.
- Catastrophic malfunctions and overheats will cause pawns to use their sidearm (Simple Sidearms integration).
- Dud system for traps, grenades, and mortar shells.
- Muzzle Flash mod compatibility across multiple weapon packs.
- Improved bills menu for crafting tasks at weapon production stations. Filter by mod and search for weapon types.
- Crafting unifier to put all your weapons on vanilla benches.
- Configurable mod settings to toggle each system independently.
- Custom debug action weapon spawn menu with filtering by mod for convenience.

Q&A:
IS IT CE COMPATIBLE?
- RimFired is its own distinct weapons framework. I appreciate what CE has to offer, but I had other priorities I wanted for combat.
Will you remove HugsLib as a dependency?
- No. I'm sorry if you are having issues with HugsLib compatibility across your mods, but it's likely not an issue with HugsLib itself.
Can you support 'X' weapon pack?
- Any vanilla retexture pack will work. If you would like me to support a pack with new WeaponDefs, please make a request in the discussion thread. If you are interested in adding your own mod, feel free to reach out.
Can this break my save games?
- No. All comps and patches can be added and removed at any time.
