Description:
This system is a multi-target fire control system that allows two operators to track and engage different targets at the same time.
Targets can be assigned via radar, camera, or GPS coordinates.
The system automatically selects suitable turrets for the current task and allows controlling a large number of connected turrets simultaneously.
As many turrets as needed can be connected, however I recommend not using more than 9 to keep a good overview.
For better understanding, I built an example setup.
This setup includes multiple turrets, a small fire control station, and all required sensors.

General Notes:
Each turret can be assigned to a channel from 0–9.
It does not matter how many turrets are on the same channel.
The operator can choose which channel to fire on.
Both operators must not use the same channel at the same time.
Each operator can choose whether the selected turrets should aim using camera, radar, or GPS coordinates.
Both operators can independently engage two different targets.
All turrets will fire if:
- their allowed rotation allows them to turn towards the target,
- their allowed pitch allows them to aim at the target,
- the distance to the target is within the configured minimum and maximum range,
- and the turret is on the same channel selected by the operator.
A simple reload mechanism is also included.
It works, but may still need improvements.
Adding more turrets:
To prevent turrets from shooting into your own ship or into restricted areas, blocked rotation zones can be configured for each turret.
You can also set a minimum and maximum firing distance at which the turrets start or stop shooting.
If a maximum distance is set, indirect fire will not be possible.
The turret number can also be configured in the communication controller.
This is only possible in the range from 1–9 because there was no space for additional 7-segment displays.
When connecting a turret, there are two combined data connections for the settings.
This allows the settings to be changed from two different locations.
See the included example build.
Target Sources:
- Radar = Automatic target tracking using radar data
- Camera = Manual targeting using camera view
- GPS = Targeting using external coordinates
Multi-Operator Mode:
The system supports two independent operators.
Both operators can track different targets at the same time.
Each operator controls their own assigned turrets and sensor data.
