ATTENTION: This mod is needed in several cases:

  • You want to create a unique story that has two endings (Both bad for humanity)
  • Supplement to a complex mod collection (Also V.O.I.D.)

ATTENTION X2: This mod is designed for playthroughs with a small to moderate number of faction settlements. Otherwise (with many settlements), completing the game will take over five years of playtime.

This mod introduces the terrifying Neurax Worm (inspired by Plague Inc.) into RimWorld. It is not just a disease—it is a sentient Hive Mind that seeks to assimilate your colony.

The Creature: Neurax Worm

A highly aggressive parasitic lifeform genetically engineered to burrow into neural pathways.

  • Smart Aggression: Worms will hunt down healthy humans but are neutral towards those already infected.
  • Hive Mind: Worms and members of the Neurax Faction are allies. They will fight side-by-side.
  • Reproduction: Worms lay eggs (found in Ancient Dangers) and have a 75% chance to burst out of the corpse of an infected host upon death.

The Infection

One bite is all it takes. The parasite burrows into the brain and manipulates the host.

  • Stage 1: The host acts normal. The antidote can slow the progress.
  • Stage 2 (>65%): The host hears the voice of the Deity. They will refuse to take the cure, claiming it is blasphemy.
  • Stage 3 (>80%): Complete fanaticism. The host may actively try to destroy your stock of antidotes.
  • Stage 4 (100%): Total Assimilation. The colonist joins the Neurax Hive faction instantly and turns against you.

The Cure

  • Pills (Neurax Antidote): Can be crafted at a Drug Lab. They reduce infection severity by 20% but cannot remove the worm completely if it has taken root.
  • Surgery: The only way to save a heavily infected colonist is the "Extract Neurax Worm" operation. Requires a skilled doctor and 20 Glitterworld Medicine.

New Content

  • New Faction: The Neurax Hive (Humans and Worms working together).
  • New Items: Neurax Meat (poisonous), Neurax Skin (purple leather), and Neurax Eggs.
  • Events: A unique intro event where the Hive offers you a "Gift". Choose wisely—refusal has consequences.
